Truncus Arteriosus

Truncus Arteriosus (TA) [trunk=main stem, artery=blood vessel] a single vessel (the truncus arteriosus) comes out of the right and left ventricles in place of the pulmonary artery and the aorta.

Patent Foramen Ovale (PFO) [patent=open, foramen=opening] a flap in the wall between the two atria. During fetal development blood flows through that hole. However, it’s supposed to close after birth.

Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD)[ventricles=lower chambers of the heart, septal=wall, defect=flaw]: one or more holes in the wall separating the two lower chambers of the heart.
